Brisbane Manchester United Supporters Club

Supporters group of Manchester United fans based in Brisbane

The original Brisbane Manchester United supporters group was set up in September 2010 by an Irishman called Keith White. An Old Trafford regular and hard core United fan, he was shocked by the lack of United supporters and that no official supporters club had ever been set up, whereas Liverpool, Man City, Spurs and even the likes of West Ham and Stoke all had their own respective supporters groups. With the help of two local United fans, Michael Doyle and Mark Budko, the original format of the group was set up and as they began to meet up regularly with a handful of other United fans for the big games and early Saturday kick offs.

Although the wheels were in motion the crew was still very small and for the games against the big clubs we were still embarrassingly outnumbered. In the final game of the season however United faced Barcelona in the Champions League Final and despite the result this night is always seen as the turning point for us. A huge crowd of United fans turned up, and became aware of the group and wanted to get involved. Amongst them was Jed Riddy, an Oxford lad who shared Keith's passion for United and vision for a more organised supporters group with greater numbers and more regular meet ups for games. In July of 2011 the group renamed and became the official Brisbane Manchester United Supporters Club (BMUSC).

Since then the club has gone from strength to strength :

- Members have increased from 40 - 140
- We have become an officially recognised fan club of the pig n whistle on Eagle street where we meet for most games
- We've got our very own Giant BMUSC Flag and polo shirts
- We've been mentioned by John Champion during the United v City game
- Had the company of actor Michael Turner (aka Kevin Webster) and have recently met and had photos taken with Mark Bosnich
- We've been contacted by and invited to a dinner night by Duncan Drasdo, head of MUST and the anti Glazer campaign.

We are constantly looking for more members to come on board so spread the word and let people know there is an live an active United fan-base in the city of Brisbane!

The Brisbane Manchester United group is simply a group of United fans that meet up regularily to cheer on the reds. Our venue is the Pig n Whistle pub on Eagle St. for most games, for earlier kick offs (champions league etc.) we meet at the Queen St. Pig n Whistle.
